Reboot

Ooops...it seemed like a good idea, but man, I lost my mojo right away.

Anyway, I thought I'd share a recent find. I was listening to a show on NPR last week about eating beef. One of the guest callers was from a newly opened shop in La Jolla called La Jolla Butcher Shop. The beef is grass fed and raised locally on Mount Palomar. They butcher either weekly or every other week (compared to twice a year for most producers).

I picked up some lamb neck for simmered lamb and pears, skirt steask for carne asada, italian sausage for sausage and peppers, and ground beef for Charger burgers. The service was very friendly and I was even given a free sample of beef jerky with my order.

Everything ended up being outstanding. But what really stood out was the ground sirloin. Holy smokes it was good! It had a rich beefy flavor. I used a light handed salt, pepper, and garlic powder seasoning so as not to mess with the beef. Wow. Our guests thought they were the best hamburgers ever. Nothing fancy. Lettuce, maters, ketchup, pickels, and REALLY good beef.

The prices were reasonable too. I'll be returning next weekend for some oxtails and more of that beef....and more beef jerky of course. I forgot to mention that my wife thought it was the best beef jerky she's ever had. It was really, really good too.

Friday

Well, I just wanted to post something quick like in order to have something up here.

OK...I'm looking forward to picking up Jr. from Daycare. He'll help me build a nice cauliflower, spinach, and pasta gratin. Oyster Po-boys tomorrow thanks to Omar at mmm-yoso! Burgers for the Chargers game on Sunday...and a nice choo choo ride with the boy down in Chula Vista tomorrow. Should be fun. Heaven know's I need it after this week at work.
